Agenda Items
We had a full agenda for this meeting:

1) The 11/7 Garfield Foundation Party;
2) Progress on gaining 501(c)(3) status;
3) Public Relations;
4) Information Technology update;
5) Alumni Committee status;

However, with the Garfield Foundation Party only 30 days away, we spent the entire hour discussing the mechanics of the event, and in particular how we were going to ensure a sufficient number of high quality attendees!

The Garfield Foundation Party
Judith Gille, chair of the Development Committee, reported on progress made on the party planning. Chris and Hap Happel have enthusiastically agreed to host the party! Ben will supply the wine. Organizing committee members will supply the food. Judith is ready to print and snail mail invitations, but needs the invite list.

Elisabeth volunteered to start with the "key alumni" list that she and Katherine had developed and take additions from everyone. As Elisabeth leaves town on Saturday, Organizing committee members were asked to send names (including contact info and a brief description of the individual's connection to Garfield and current role within the community) to Elisabeth by Wednesday, 10/9. Kay will add contact information (snail mail, e-mail, phone numbers) for people on the list where she has that information.

Ben will take over the list on Saturday morning and ensure that it is large enough, with the goal of handing it off to Judith by Monday so she can snail mail invitations. The target is 120 names, with an eventual yield of 60 attendees on 11/7. Organizing committee members will divide up this list and personally call every invitee to help boost attendance.

The Development Committee is scheduled to meet Wednesday morning, 10/9, to wordsmith the invitation and work on a phone script for members to use when calling invitees for the party.

Members discussed various "marquee" alumni whom we would like to attend, and we agreed that we should aim to have approximately five such alumni as "honorary hosts" for the party.
