Vision/Mission Statements
Previous suggested statements were merged and re-worked.Group consensus
selected the following:
Vision:
To further the outstanding legacy of Garfield High School, an urban school rich in a
diverse history of academic and extra-curricular excellence, with the necessary
resources to ensure that Garfield achieves the best result for every single student.
Mission: To enrich and enhance meaningful student experience at
Garfield High School by the creation of an endowment fund that will provide
a sustainable source of funding for student programs.
Governance
Created list of questions and concerns to take to the Alliance for Education
regarding draft performance contract.
Finalized list will be emailed to steering committee.
Pamela, Ben and Lorna will meet with Allliance.
Alumni Identification
Janet, Lyn and Jody volunteered to start phoning to find class reunion organizers.
Committee would like report from Ben on what arrangements might be possible with Classmates.com.
Golden Grads have several years of classes.
Initial contact with them was made by Ben before the Happel party.
Follow-up merits further discussion.
Logo
Susan presented a student—generated "Bulldog with ribbon flourishes."
The idea was to have the ribbon carry the name "Garfield High School Foundation".
It will be at future meetings for folks to look at.
Fall Event
February 11th meeting at Judith’s home will focus on this discussion.
Event committee is going to need lots of help.
Please start asking friends you think might be interested in helping with this.
